Breaking News: Seattle Seahawks Agree to Terms With WR Sydney Rice

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent WR Sydney Rice. This is an absolutely monster sign for the Seahawks moving forward with a new quarterback, a second year coach, and a new system. Sydney Rice brings a dynamic outside threat to the passing game, and if they can find a consistent running game, the Seahawks could be building a formidable offense.

This has to hurt Minnesota moving forward with Donovan Mcnabb as quarterback. The question I have is simply- can the Seahawks now make a playoff push? We’ll see what happens, but Sydney Rice is a key sign for a struggling organization. Get excited Seahawks Fans!

Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett and Leon Washington Will Improve.

Will the Seattle Seahawks’ running game be any better next season.

Marshwan Lynch, Justin Forsett and Leon Washington, are all expected to return to the lineup next season.

Last year the triple-threat turned out to be far from intimidating, posting statistics on the ground that landed them almost dead last in the league.

If there is anything that has been learned about having three competing backs unable to produce, it’s that it most likely was a matter of poor blocking.

Fans are expecting to see greater results in the running game this season, with the addition of two early round offensive line draft picks, Alabama OT, James Carpenter and Wisconsin G, John Moffitt.

They are also looking for last year’s top first round pick OT, Russell Okung to remain healthy, and also provide some much needed help.

If each of these players start and can give the team the push they need, expect to see one of the leagues worst running teams surface as one of the best.

2011 NFL Free Agency: Seattle Seahawks Need Mathias Kiwanuka

Now that the 2011 NFL draft is over and done with, what will the Seattle Seahawks do in the free agency arena, if anything?

Right now, besides needing a QB, they are hurting for speed on the defensive line.

One of the most nagging spots being defensive end.

If the ‘Hawks were to use free agency as an opportunity to get some help at that position, their best option would be 28-year-old Mathias Kiwanuka.

Last year the 6′-5″, 265 lb New York Giant, was out all but three games of the season with a herniated disc.

He has since had surgery and is expected to be one hundred percent ready for next season.

Kiwanuka is one of the fastest DEs in the league, capable of providing a strong pass rush, and flushing QBs out of the pocket.

This is something the Seahawks failed to execute last season, allowing opposing teams to run and pass on them virtually  at will.

If the ‘Hawks can seal a deal with “Nuke” they will bolster their “D” and start looking like a contending team, instead of a miracle team that makes it to the playoffs with one of the worst records in the league.

2011 NFL Trade Rumors: Will the Seattle Seahawks Be Fishing for Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer?

Posted by Jude Wilmot
May 11, 2011

There once was a time when the name Carson Palmer meant something.

Conversations about the best QBs in football almost always included “that guy” that plays for Cincinnati, right!

Those were the days when Palmer’s scruffy face graced the covers of big name magazines.

He also made appearances in a few (one?) commercials; does anyone else remember that John Morrell hotdog ad?

That was all before that tragic day when the Bengals’ hopes for a playoff advancement came crashing to a halt.

In 2005––Palmersr’s third year in the NFL––Cincinnati earned their stripes finishing the season 11-5, and snagging a Wild Card spot against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

On the very first Bengal  pass play––a 66-yarder to WR Chris Henry––Steeler nose tackle, Kimo Von Oelhoffen, dove at Palmer, making contact with one of his knees.

The hit led to Palmer’s immediate departure from the game.

He would not return and Cincinnati would go on to lose by a final score of 31-17.

It was later revealed that Palmer had sustained a devastating  injury; two torn ligaments.

After that fateful day, Palmer & Co. would return to the same familiar, lackluster team fans were so used to.

Palmer has since shown flashes of his former self, but not enough to regain the headline grabbing attention he once held.

At 31, Palmer has settled into the “middlehood” of his career; locked in a standstill, staring down a diverging path.

Rumors of the nine-year vet desiring to go elsewhere have run rampant in the world of football.

Several sources have revealed the disgruntled slinger’s desire to leave his longtime team, by force if necessary; translating to, ‘trade me or I will retire so fast it will make your heads spin.’

So, what now?

Will Cincinnati bigwigs show mercy and cave, collecting whatever they can get for the cage-rattled Bengal?

Or, will they call his move by playing mean warden, ripping up his contract and giving him the ol’ heave ho?

If the first option becomes a reality could we see a move that would send him to the Seahawks?

After this year’s somewhat shocking NFL draft conundrum, where the ‘Hawks selected (a reach?)  Alabama OT, James Carpenter, in the first round––who knows what’s next!

It’s been reported by former pro QB, present ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer, that Hass’ rejected a contract extension right before the lockout started back in March.

Causing a lot of head scratching for team fans moving into the 2011-12 season.

Could Carson Palmer be the Head-and-Shoulders for their itchy scalp, or will their hairless champion return overpaid and ready to carry Seattle to a few more wins on his age-weary legs?

Your guess is as good as mine.

2011 NFL Free Agency: Matt Hasselbeck and Seattle Seahawks May Part Ways

Do we need Hass’ back?

With the closing of the draft, Seahawks fans were left scratching their head, or at least I was!

Was it really the best idea to skip over some fresh QB meat (em..Ryan Mallett)?

For the past 10 seasons Seattle has had the position of quarterback safely secured by veteran Matt Hasselbeck.

Now, questions about his return are blurring the minds of ‘Hawks fans, and shedding rumor of an affair elsewhere.

Could it be! Our one and only has reached the corner of his career and wants to stuff his pockets with another team’s money?

How about this thought; maybe we don’t want him back and decide to test the waters of free agency ourselves.

I mean, hey, if he can do it so can we, or at least pretend that we are, right!

I think I speak for just about every Seahawk fan in America when I say, “I’m sick and tired of everything being about money.”

It’s all we’ve heard about so far during the off-season; money! money! money (money!)!

From the Collective Bargaining Agreement debacle, to the current lockout and courtroom charades–––”I’ve had it up to here ( ¯¯ ).

If Hass’ does indeed end up leaving Seattle, I know of two great places where fading QBs can go to expire (I’m being nice) gracefully; Minnesota or Cincinnati!

Can you say bye, bye ex-birdie?!

Note: This blog was in no way intended to hurt Matt Hasselbeck and/or, Seattle Seahawks fans’ feelings. If that were the case…I would be insulting myself!
