Seahawks News: Polumbus Discovers Seattle, Leroy Lowers Bill, Wilson Returns Home

[picappgallerysingle id="3389160"]A whole bunch of Seahawks business went down today on both sides of the ball. Seahawks General Manager and “good ol’ boy”, John Schneider was running hard, sliding over the hood of the General Lee and ramping up football moves.  After not being able to acquire OT Tyler Polumbus off of waivers last week, Schneider made a move to acquire the big man on Tuesday from the Detroit Lions.  This was a must to keep Matt Hasselbeck and company moving forward until Russell Okung, Ben Hamilton and Chester Pitts are ready to rock.  Oh  by the way he’s 6 f’n 8!  3 Bills!

Here’s a bio sheet on the newly acquired Polumbus.

Leroy Hill looks like he will stick around for awhile, well at least this year.  The off-field troubled Linebacker agreed to a lower contract for this season to stay with the team.  I personally am glad to see Leroy stick around, the dude is good… on the field.  Schneider took advantage of a situation to keep Leroy around but establish a lowered paycheck for the misbehaving LB.

Lastly and yes sadly, the Seahawks traded the short but speedy Josh Wilson to the Baltimore Ravens.  Wilson was a good playmaker and a fan favorite.  The “Seabrass” must feel they have good defensive backs to make the move.

Pete and John keep tinkering and tinkering as they try to put a winner on the field this season.

[picappgallerysingle id="7332650"]The Seahawks are inching towards the beginning of the regular season as they started the “come in to my office, I have some news for you” part of the process.  The initial set of cuts was expected for most of the players, CFL Sack Leader Ricky Foley was one player that stood out in the land of cuts.

Some players are on the bubble, we’ll see what happens next.

Seahawks Victorious Without Winning Game vs. Vikings

[picappgallerysingle id="8000134"]The Seahawks walked away from the Metrodome a loser of a meaningless preseason game to the Vikings but the team flew home to Seattle all in one piece with some good things learned.  Mansfield Wrotto showed that he could hold off one of the league’s best pash rushers in Jared Allen and he kept his starting Quarterback healthy.  Rookie Safety Earl Thomas showed that if the ball bounces his way, he can make big things happen.  Wide Receiver Deion Branch is proving that he has a lot left in the tank, can be depended on by Matt Hasselbeck and that trading for him 4 years ago wasn’t a mistake.   Cornerback Marcus Trufant made a great play on a ball to block out the receiver and intercept a Brett Favre pass, reminding us of his Pro Bowl abilites.   The Seahawks held the lead through the starters time on the field, on the road, in Minnesota.  Not too shabby.

So, now  the team needs to lock it down over the final week of preseason.  Get our injured offensive linemen and linebackers healthy.  Give our rookies the tools they need for the season.  It’s been a strange preseason, I’ve felt real high on the potential of the team and I’ve seen it slip a little bit.  Honestly, I don’t know what to think about the team.  I do believe we will be watching an exciting brand of Seahawks football.  I like the feel of the offense and I believe the defense will play well when they are ALL together on the field.

One more meaningless game to go until we get the real deal on the field.

What to Look For Seahawks vs. Vikings – Preseason Game 3

KEEP MATT ALIVE!!!

What to look for in the Vikings game this Saturday… Matt Hasselbeck being able to walk off the field at the end of the game.   No Russell Okung.  No Ben Hamilton.  NO BLINDSIDE PROTECTION!   Let’s hope number 8 finds some of that quickness he used to have about 5 years ago.  Give it to Leon Washington and Justin Forsett.  Roll out ON EVERY PASS PLAY.  QB Sneaks on 1st and 10.  Just don’t leave our QB available for Jared Allen to pulverize.

“Bring on” Leon part 2:

Leon is getting the start on Saturday and man the dude deserves it.  Give him some up the gut.  Toss him a few sweeps.  Throw him the ball in the flat.  Let Leon be Leon.  Also, give my boy Justin some chances to show he can still rip a few runs.  He always busts it at 112%  (remember, extra for the 12th man).

Rookie Defensive Backs:

Earl Thomas might have got beat on that perfect throw and catch last week vs. The Packers but I think the guy will be just fine.   He needs the experience out there and every safety has been burned.  Also, I want to see some more Walter Thurmond and Kam Chancellor.  These guys need to prove to the fans they can make the final 53.  Both of shown some good stuff in the first two games, let’s see how they do against Brett Favre, Percy Harvin and whatever back-up (soon to be a reborn star) the Vikings picked up or traded for this last week.

No Love for Seahawks Defense….Yet

[picappgallerysingle id="2004603"]Man!  The media is bashing the Seahawks defense like the Drunk Hulk does on a beer can.  Guys, I know were not the 85 Bears, but geez, it’s only Preseason.  The whole team hasn’t played together yet.  I know it’s nice to get some buzz and some stories going but let’s wait a bit until they actually have to gameplan against an offense.  They’ve been busted on some big plays and the first drives of the opposition end in a score…. but it’s Preeeeeeeseason.

The National Media sets a tone and then the Seattle Media likes to follow.  Come on guys, let’s be patient with our local guys.  I’m a big fan of all our local writers and media members I just want you to breathe a bit.  Give the D a chance to assemble and then storm the field together.  Will the succeed?  Will they fail? Hope not.  Let’s just wait and see.
