NFL in 3D! Seahawks need 1D! A Good D!

[picappgallerysingle id="4644977"]I’m excited to see the NFL in 3D this season. It’s a cool look for sports and I can’t wait to see the Hawks in all three dimensions. First though, I want to see some 1D. Good solid defense. Not giving up a 5 yard run on every play. Not giving up the big pass play for a TD. Actually getting some pressure on the QB. Grab a few sacks for a change. You know, pass rush, an important dimension to any good D. With camp just a few hours away I’m looking forward to Carroll and company to get our D back on track. Adding two impact defensive players with our first round pick in consecutive years should start to pay off. Earl Thomas and Aaron Curry need to step up early in their careers to give boost to Seattle’s veteran and aging group of defenders. With a healthy Lofa Tatupu, a concentrated Leroy Hill and a Pro-Bowl form Marcus Trufant, these savvy vets can lead the Seahawks Defense and teach the youngin’s the ropes to succeed. Those 3 Defenders were on the Super Bowl team. They’ve won division titles, they were respected, they can do it.
Now if we can get our 2010 draftees in camp by this weekend, Pete and Gus can start camp right. With a whole team.
Let’s Hawk and Roll our way to the top.

HAWKA! HAWKA! HAWKA!

Hawk’n Roll!

Hello Hawkers! The NFL clock is ticking and ticking as we inch closer to Seahawks madness. One of the things I get excited about is the energy at Qwest Field. It’s bottled madness in our Seahawks temple. The army of Seahawks soldiers is armed (mostly drunk!) loud (drunk) and ready to yell (because they’re drunk). And I love it when our fans just yell on their own. Not because a rainbow version of the word NOISE is on the jumbotron but because the fans are just LOUD and love the Hawks! It’s hards to beat. They say it’s the loudest place in the NFL. If it’s not, I don’t believe it. The place is crazy in there. It’s so loud that I’m waiting for a Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome like show to start. I’d like to see the Hawks enter to a different song though. The Verve song was cool for a while but it’s done. It’s played. Give me something rockin. Something new. Something Seattle. We are a proud Rockin’ city. Let’s get the rock rollin’ early in the game. What song would you like to see the Seahawks enter the field to? Check out our poll but comment on any suggestions you have for something else.

Seahawks CEO Leaves for the NHL

Tod Leiweke,The brainchild of the Seattle Seahawks super-branding over the last few years has left for the Sushine State and the Lightning. The Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL that is. The former Seahawks CEO and Vulcan Sports and Entertainment shot caller has taken on the same position in Tampa with a nice slice of ownership. Sad news for the Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC. Leiweke was a big part of the Seahawks resurgence in the 2000′s. He made them relevant on many levels and helped create a popularity for the Seahawks and Sounders in Seattle and across the nation.

[picappgallerysingle id="1876785"]That is what I hear from my 21 month old son when he sees the Seattle Seahawks logo.  He gets excited just to see the proud angry hawk. For his father, a life-long Seahawks fan, the excitement hasn’t emerged yet. There isn’t any buzz yet heading into the Seahawks training camp. I think it’s an intentional move by Pete Carroll and company. No expecatations, no hype…. just waiting to see what happens on the field. For a Seattle sports fan, it’s actually refreshing to have no hype. It leaves us no room for disappointment. But even without expectations and hype lies a lot of questions.   Will Matt Hasselbeck be the smart decision maker we are used to in the past? Who will be the receivers on the 53 man roster? Will Lofa Tatupu return to his old healthy leadership form? Can Aaron Curry be the second coming of Lawrence Taylor like we thought? These are just questions but they’re not expectations. Let’s see what happens in the coming days leading to Coach Carroll’s first NFL training camp with the Seahawks. Expectations… on hold.
